POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Supply Chain Category Manager will operate under the direction of the Category Manager Team Lead and is responsible for providing operational support to the Operations and HSS&E teams. This is an experienced role serving as the primary point of contact and support to one of the Operations functions (Drilling, Completions, Production). This role is involved in day to day operations and supports functions as needed in many capacities.

In this role the Category Manager will:

  • Enact category management plans for high level category agreements in line with direction provided by the Supply Chain Manager and Category Management Team Lead.
  • Analyze market and company data sources to develop potential cost savings or process improvement opportunities
  • Identify and conduct sourcing events
  • Lead commercial negotiations with suppliers
  • Coordinate and lead Supplier Quality Meetings
  • Document service agreement rates and terms through the development and execution of Work Order Agreements
  • Provide day-to-day support to Operations functions, with a focus on an individual department (Drilling, Completions or Production)
  • Liaise with Finance, Accounting and other Departments to manage sourcing/contracting process
  • Assist with the development of company-wide rate repository
  • Periodically review and analyze supplier invoices to ensure compliance with contract terms
  • Provide support to Company inventory management strategies
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business or Finance preferred
  • 10-15 years’ experience in Oil & Gas / Energy industry within a similar role
  • Thorough understanding of project management principles and techniques
  • Proven teamwork, interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks at once and be comfortable working in a dynamic team environment
  • Able to work with minimal supervision

SKILLS

  • Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft suite of products; including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and SharePoint
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to respond to various ad-hoc requests for data, data analysis, tools, and presentations as necessary
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high flow of information
  • Proactive approach toward improving processes and systems
  • Experience with supply chain systems/tools such as PowerAdvocate, Enertia, ISNetWorld, OpenInvoice a plus
